Baltics and Scandinavian destination information

We design custom tour packages to Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Sweden and Norway. Whether you want a quick trip to one city or a longer journey across multiple countries, we’ve got you covered. Our aim is not to cover every city in these destinations but instead, we focus on the most interesting destinations and regions we are specialists in. With our strong ties to the region, we’re not just any travel company – we’re your local experts, your trusted companions, and your gateway to amazing adventures.

Estonia 🇪🇪

Estonia combines the UNESCO-listed medieval streets of Tallinn with ancient bogs, Hanseatic seaside towns, and a uniquely innovative culture. It's a country where 14th-century alleyways and one of Europe's most digital societies coexist beautifully—and where the saunas run deep.

Finland 🇫🇮

Finnish Lapland is the spiritual home of the Northern Lights, where glass-roof cabins, husky safaris, and ancient boreal forests create the quintessential Arctic experience. From Rovaniemi—Santa Claus's official hometown—to the remote skies above Saariselkä and Inari, Finland offers some of the world's most reliable aurora sightings.

Latvia 🇱🇻

Latvia offers Art Nouveau elegance in Riga, vast pine forests, a wild Baltic coastline, and the quiet charm of provincial towns like Kuldīga, where Europe's widest waterfall tumbles past historic streets.

Lithuania 🇱🇹

Lithuania pairs the baroque grandeur of Vilnius—a UNESCO World Heritage city—with sacred sites like the Hill of Crosses, the drifting sand dunes of the Curonian Spit, and a rich, complex cultural heritage that rewards deeper exploration.

Norway 🇳🇴

From Tromsø's vibrant aurora scene to the dramatic Lofoten Islands and Senja's hidden fjords, Norway pairs unrivaled coastal beauty with some of the most consistent Northern Lights sightings in the world. Add in Sámi culture, fjord cruises, and the Arctic Cathedral, and you have a destination that rewards both first-timers and seasoned travelers.

Sweden 🇸🇪

Sweden blends cosmopolitan Stockholm with its royal palaces, Old Town, and design heritage, with the pristine wilderness of Swedish Lapland, home to the world-famous Icehotel, Abisko's exceptionally clear aurora skies, and authentic Sámi traditions in Jukkasjärvi.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Nordic country is best for seeing the Northern Lights?

Northern Norway (especially Tromsø) and Finnish Lapland (Saariselkä, Inari, Äkäslompolo) offer the most reliable Northern Lights viewing, with auroras visible on roughly four out of five clear winter nights. Swedish Lapland—particularly Abisko—is another top choice thanks to its unique microclimate that often produces clear skies even when surrounding areas are cloudy.

When is the best time to visit Scandinavia and the Baltics?

For winter experiences and the Northern Lights, December through March offers the best snow conditions and dark skies. For city breaks across the Baltics, May through September brings warm weather, long daylight hours, and festival season. We tailor every itinerary to your preferred travel window.

Can I combine multiple destinations in one trip?

Yes—many of our travelers visit two or three countries in a single trip. Popular combinations include Finland + Norway + Sweden (our Northern Lights Road Trip), Stockholm + Swedish Lapland, or the three Baltic capitals Vilnius–Riga–Tallinn. Just tell us which destinations interest you and we'll plan the logistics.

Are your tours customizable?

Every MonMon Travel itinerary is fully customizable. You can adjust trip length, accommodation level (3-star to 5-star), specific activities, departure dates, and even add or swap destinations. We're a small-group and private-tour specialist, not a mass-market operator.

How far in advance should I book?

For winter Northern Lights trips, we recommend booking three to six months in advance—glass igloos and premium Arctic accommodations sell out fastest. Summer Baltic tours typically have more flexibility but still benefit from two to three months' lead time.

Are these destinations family-friendly?

Absolutely. Finnish Lapland is especially popular with families (husky farms, Santa's Village, gentle reindeer safaris), while Tallinn, Stockholm, and Riga are easy and engaging for kids of all ages. We can recommend the best destinations and activities based on your children's ages.
